Neil Strebig
Chef turned journalist
I spent most of my early career in the kitchen before discovering my passion for storytelling. I moved to Pittsburgh in 2014 to pursue a career in journalism and haven’t looked back.
I'm drawn to narrative, literary journalism and most of the accompanying photography and visual assests (including infographics) is my own. When I'm not writing, I tend to talk a lot. While in Pittsburgh, I started the "The 86'd Life Podcast." A blog/podcast focused on the issues and stigmas that have plagued the service industry.
I also co-host and developed two podcasts: "This Podcast Isn't About Us" and "Who Saved Over My Podcast?" The podcasts are focused on news/media literacy and a slice of nerd culture, respectively.
As a content creator my goal is to connect with my audience and introduce them to a topic, a person or an idea that is often foreign to them. After those making connections, the aim is to continue building trust and evolving the storytelling approach through new entrance points and mediums.
I take pride in challenging myself and forcing myself out of my comfort zones. I've learned that it is only through new experiences that my ability as both a writer and storyteller grows.
Outside of the grind, you can find me playing some RPGs (love me some Legend of Zelda and RPGs), geeking out over Formula One Grand Prix weekends, reading or finding some time to get a quick run in.
